Students apply to Yale College from all fifty states and every corner of the globe, aspiring to join a community passionate about making the world a better place. Thanks to generous financial aid, the brightest can afford to enroll here, regardless of background: fifty-three percent of students receive need-based assistance. “Yale has provided me with opportunities I could never have imagined. My goal is to make the most of those opportunities and show others that no matter where they come from, they too can reach beyond what they might think is possible.”

Yale College Funding Gap

Each year, the endowment payout covers just a portion of Yale’s spending on Yale College scholarships. In 2025 the financial aid budget for Yale College is $270.5 million. Funding from the endowment supplies $132 million, leaving a gap of $138.5 million—funds that must be drawn from the university’s operating budget.
