Worldwide Giving

As one of the world’s leading institutions of higher learning and research, Yale emphasizes global engagement in its educational and research mission. As such, the university welcomes gifts from donors who are residents/taxpayers in countries other than the United States.

International donors using credit cards always have the option to use PayPal on our online giving website. To make a gift via wire transfer, please email cash.wire@yale.edu or call +1.203.432.5867. Yale University is not able to accept checks from international banks.

In some cases, it may be more tax efficient to make gifts to the university using one of the options described below in lieu of making a gift directly to Yale. For more information, contact Yale’s International Development team. Donors are also advised to review local tax laws and regulations for details and consult a local professional tax advisor.

Canada

In Canada, Yale University is currently on the list of “prescribed universities” in the Canadian Income Tax Act Schedule VII section 3503. Thus, donations to Yale are tax-deductible in Canada subject to any regulations that might otherwise apply. For information on all registered charities in Canada under the Income Tax Act, please visit the Canada Revenue Agency’s website.

Cross-border philanthropy in Europe is now a reality. Yale supporters in a number of European countries can make tax-efficient contributions to Yale through the Transnational Giving Europe (TGE) network. TGE is a partnership of European foundations that enables donor residents of one participating country (both corporations and individuals) to contribute financial support to nonprofit organizations in other member countries.
