Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. DAFs can provide you with immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier.
Donate to Yale through your Donor Advised Fund
If you have already established a DAF with a sponsor, you can use it to give to Yale in two ways:
- Make an outright gift now by recommending a grant to Yale University.
- Create a succession plan to recommend that Yale University receive all or a portion of the fund value upon the termination of the fund.
If you would like to include Yale University in your plans, please let us know and be sure to use our legal name and federal tax ID.

Yale Donor Advised Funds
For donors with significant philanthropic goals, establishing a Yale donor advised fund offers the tax advantages of giving to a public charity, the long-term benefits of giving to a world-class research university, and the opportunity to also support qualified charitable organizations outside of Yale—all with minimal administrative responsibilities.
Through a minimum initial gift of $5 million or more of cash, securities, or other properties, a Yale donor advised fund offers a simple, cost-effective way to manage your charitable giving. Your irrevocable gift will be invested to grow over time, and you may recommend distributions from your fund to support specific areas of Yale or other qualified charitable organizations.
Yale manages all record keeping, handles consideration of and distributions to other qualified charities, and provides you with detailed annual statements.
Contact us at development.gifts@yale.edu or 203.432.5436 if a donor advised fund at Yale seems to match your philanthropic goals.
