Hall of the Pacific Opens at Peabody Museum

With more than 250 artifacts and artworks from Pacific Islander cultures now on display, the new hall is yet another reason to visit the recently renovated museum.

As part of its complete renovation, a new gallery at the Yale Peabody Museum is now open to the public: the Hall of the Pacific. For the first time, the Peabody is exhibiting an extensive collection of artworks, contextual photographs, and historical artifacts that celebrates the living cultures of Pacific Islander communities. Highlights include carved canoe prows, painted façades, decorated shields, and rare masks. “We’ve never been able to show this collection of objects and works of art from across the Pacific at a scale like this,” says museum director David Skelly.

The new hall was made possible through a generous donation by Thomas Jaffe ’71. Read more about the Hall of the Pacific and find more information about visiting the Peabody.
