Nancy Marx Better ’84, P ’15, P ’17, P ’19
Nancy Marx Better began her career as a journalist, reporting for national publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and Fortune before becoming a senior editor of SmartMoney magazine.
In addition to her writing work, Better is an active community and civic volunteer. She currently serves as a trustee of Waterside School and Horizons at Brunswick, two academic programs for low-income students. She is also an elected member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting.
Better previously served as president of the Greenwich Library Board; president of the Putnam Indian Field School Board; vice president of the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club; and as a trustee of Brunswick School, Let’s Get Ready, and Literacy Volunteers of America.
An honors graduate of Yale, Better serves as chair of the Yale University Library Council and as a member of the Yale School of Music Board of Advisors and the Yale Alumni Schools Committee. She is a past chair of the Yale Parents Annual Fund. In 2019, she received the Yale Medal for her leadership service.
