




Marla Geha is a professor in the Astronomy Department and Physics Department at Yale University. As an observational astronomer, her research is focused on understanding how the smallest known galaxies formed and using these galaxies to understand the nature of dark matter and the underlying cosmology of the Universe. She obtained her BS in applied and engineering physics from Cornell University and her PhD in astrophysics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has received various honors including an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, a John S. Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Dylan Hixon ’88 Prize for teaching excellence in the natural sciences at Yale.
Geha is co-principal investigator of the Satellites Around Galactic Analogs (SAGA) Survey and science lead for the Via Project. She is on the board of the Warrior Scholar Project (WSP) and helped develop the WSP STEM curriculum. Geha is also founder and faculty director of the Research Experience for Veteran Undergraduates (REVU) Program.
