Marla Geha is a professor in the Astronomy Department and Physics Department at Yale University. As an observational astronomer, she is primarily interested in the formation, evolution, and destruction of dwarf galaxies. Her current work includes observations of ultra-faint galaxies recently discovered in the Local Group. These objects are the least-massive and most dark matter-dominated galaxies in the known universe, providing significant constraints on both galaxy formation processes and cosmology. Geha’s research focuses on the origin and evolution of dwarf galaxies with the goal of using these objects to answer fundamental questions in astrophysics and cosmology.
Geha is co-principal investigator of the Satellites Around Galactic Analogs (SAGA) Survey. She is on the Board of the Warrior Scholar Project (WSP) and helped develop the WSP STEM curriculum. She is also a faculty director of the Research Experience for Veteran Undergraduates (REVU) Program.
