Agnete Wisti Lassen, associate curator of the Yale Babylonian Collection, is trained in the archaeology, history and art history of the ancient Near East. Her research area is the social and economic history of Mesopotamia and Anatolia in the 2nd millennium BCE and, in particular, glyptic studies and ancient textile. Her approach is interdisciplinary, and she works with visual culture, archaeological material, and written sources. Lassen has taught classes on the ancient Near East at Yale University and University of Copenhagen and curated several exhibitions. She has received prestigious grants and awards, including the American Schools of Oriental Research’s Mesopotamia Fellowship, Yale University’s Kohut Fellowship, and the Carlsberg Foundation’s post-doctoral Grant.
